Hello, I'm a public accountant and model airplane enthusiast, who also happens to love the world of Carroll
My particular interest is his mathematics, so I hope there are other likeminded types here.

Hi otherprofessor,
Mathematicians are more than welcome! I'm not sure how many members are mathematicians (I certainly don't count myself as one), but this is an educational site and the more mathematicians we get the merrier - especially if they are prepared to share their arcane mysteries with us.
Welcome
John Tufail

Thank you all most sincerely. This seems a very lively and friendly forum, I have to say. I have been reading for a few weeks and haven't spotted a single flame.

Belatedly, other professor!
You raise an interesting point. Not only have there been no 'flames', but there haven't even been any sparks that I have noticed! Could this be that because the way the site is organised, people feel more free to contribute rather than compete (and there is far more room for egos like mine to expand without causing offence!)? It could be that the turmoil the creation of this site created acted as a self-filtering device (there is another alternative Carroll site going out of the debris of the old).
It could, of course, be just down to the fact that the site is new and only has, at the moment 50+ members. There maybe an as yet undiscovered 'critical mass' point where flames begin and expand!
Whatever the reason, revel in the courtesy. Personally I feel that any web site evoted to Lewis Carroll, should ascribe to itself the same rules of courtesy and manners that Lewis Carroll himself practiced. If you disagree with someone, do it with manners and respect. If you vehemently disagree with someone, do it with manners and wit (irony was Carroll's favourite tool after all!).
Regards
JT

I too have been much taken with the standards of posters here and feel very much confirmed in my decision to make the move!
I think there is something about the Proboard which gives a more civilised ambience, with the opportunities it gives for individual design, of which we have a very attractive one (thank you Wild Reality), and the individual boards - a bit like the difference between a big open bar space with everyone shouting at each other, and a cosy pub with a fire and plenty of nooks and crannies.
More mundanely, though, none of the small but vocal minority who had made the Yahoo list such an unpleasant place to be have joined us here, which may have something to do with it too.
Mike

I have just joined the forum, and putting the pigean amongst the proverbial Cheshire Cats you might like to take a look at my humble attempt at a third Alice story, and se how you like it. I call it 'Alice on top of the World'. You can see the first four chapters on my blog www.gerrardtwilson.wordpress.com I would love to receive some feedback, hopefully good! Thanks from gerry

Hi, dear Dr. Tufail, dear Other Professor and everybody!
I am a physicist by education and a translator by resent occupation (from Belarus--this was a part of the late Soviet Union). Carroll's texts are my particular interest. Just joined the Forum and posted my speech in Math section. Maybe, it would be better to do it here as Other Professor and other newcomers did but it is done. Excuse me.
